It seems rather daunting these days walking into a cell phone or smart phone store and choosing the right cell phone, blue tooth hands free unit, data plan and cellular plan that is right for you. So, I thought I might do a little investigation on my own and tell you what I learned. Now there are AT&T Stores, Verizon Stores, Apple Stores, and you can buy a Cellular Smart phone from one of the following manufacturers:
Samsung HTC Sanyo Sony Apple Google Motorola LG Nokia
HTC Phones Sprint
And, heck there are probably some I didn't list, not to mention all the Chinese clones coming into our markets. If you go to a Sprint Store you are going to see models that you don't see at the AT&T store and models in both of those stores that may or may not be in the Verizon store. Some cellular carriers have special deals with some of the phones that are made especially for certain programs and special offers.
When I went into a Sprint Store, an "indirect dealer" in the area here in Palm Desert CA - Skycomm Inc., I talked with two exceptionally knowledgeable and techno-savvy employees; Moi and Kathy, who clearly deserve whatever it is they pay them. The manager of operations Cheryl Witteman was out assisting clients, and I barraged her Sprint Team Retail Concierges with mega questions. To my surprise they didn't skip a beat. I found a similar experience recently in another Sprint dealer on the other side of the valley as well. Sprint trains their people very well indeed.
When I went into an AT&T store in Tucson, which was quite busy, I was happy with Sam the retail salesman who explained the plans, early penalties, and lock-in agreement for 18-months or 24 months and how much discount I could get on a Nokia smart phone if I purchased within the month (2-days left).
All the companies run special promotions and if you like a certain phone, and a certain carrier, you might want to hustle on the deal, because cell phone models change, and every six months, the whole row of smart phone innovations are new. But rest assured there will be a new sales promotion and new equipment coming in with perhaps new features next month as well.
Sprint retail locations offer the following brand name phones; Blackberry, Sanyo, Samsung, HTC, and Palm - and several models of each, lots of choices. Of course, if you want an iPhone you cannot get one there. But around Palm Desert they told me that the golfing crowd very much liked the Blackberry phones and the Palms which allows them to send emails, surf the net and have basic GPS options - yes, while golfing and cruising around the club house in their Hummer Golf Carts? Indeed, they enjoy all the rest of the applications off the course too - along with all the normal high-tech smart phone features we are all used too.
Now then, I recommend if you want a Sprint Phone to check out the latest deals online before you buy and I also recommend that you check out various models to compare. Then make sure the plan you are getting works for you and that it is competitive. And, for sure check to see if they offer the 3G or 4G or both. Please consider all this.
